There are now 10 full-time and 8 part-time faculty members in the institute, including 12 professors, 2 associated professor, and 4 assistant professors. All of the faculty members have received advanced trainings in the fields of neural, cardiac, circulation, renal, respiratory, or endocrine physiology.
The Graduate Institute was first set up on August 1947, when it is subdivided into 3 divisions, namely physiology, biochemistry, and pharmacology. Each division became a separate institute later. According to the current administrative system, the Graduate Institute of Physiology and the Department of Physiology are merged to one Service for research and teaching. At present, we enroll 16 students for Master programs and 4 students for Ph. D programs every year.

Departmental activities and functions which foster the exchange of scientific ideas include the weekly seminar courses and irregular special lectures. Distinguished scholars from outside NTU are invited to discuss their researches. The department is also in charge of the physiology courses for the undergraduate, medical and graduate students, and offers graduate programs leading to the Master of Science and Ph.D. degrees.
